this is our first attempt at a rear frame clip, so of course we didn't do it as a pro would, but it came out like a pro did it (i think anyhow) we are still working on this truck we removed the 4 link pictured and are installing a new one. this may not be super helpful but it will at least give you a nice little guide with some good tips to follow - w

pre install a: parts / tools needed

this picture is before anything has started...
needed parts; well this is what we had anyhow:
20 feet of 2x4 box tubing
welder; drill;  sawsall; grinder with cut off wheel; chop saw with metal cutting blade

 01). items used/created

a). what your going to need to do is either tack a piece of box tubing to the bed mounts or do what we did - clamped one to the bed mount (to give us no constrictions)

b). we also drew a template of the original frame to match up the height of the notch we clamped it to the where the frame used to be while we were measuring the height of the notch

~ click here to see the rear clip after we cut it off ~

02). strengthening the area you are connecting.

a). we cut half of the frame with an angle to give strength to the clip when we welded it on

b). we also drilled holes in both sides of the frame for added strength

03). angles and notch height

a). measuring and finding the angles you will have to figure out, this will depend on how high your notch is, so just do what we did, hold them up kinda eyeball them and use the box tubing (clamped or tacked to the bed mounts) and/or the template to match up the height

04). start creating the frame

after you find the angles start welding up your clip

 05). double checking

a).tack this bad boy in, and use your template and box tubing to insure everything lines up..

b). after everything lines up, fully weld the clip and the holes you drilled, and your on your way...

07). finishing up both sides of the clip

a). we used 2 floor jack to hold the frame pieces up to insure they did not move when we welded them in (we highly recommend it)

08). weld in one of the crossmembers

now that we are almost done, we can just fit a cross member from our 2x4 box tubing, and weld that on in.

after you wire wheel all the welds and all of the misc rust/dirt off spray it with some flat black and you now have a nice new rear frame clip :)

we are currently redoing the 4link on this truck which is why we have not completed the clip fully (the remaining bed mounts just need to be welded on)
