Samsung, in its typical leadership fashion, has recently introduced an 82-inch TFT LCD display with a 1200:1 contrast ratio. Now of course, all faithful Geeks remember that Samsung recently spoke of its plans to increase investment in its LCD fabrication plants (see our coverage), but who would have imagined this was the reason why? Well, that's probably a stretch, but it's no secret that Samsung wants to be a dominant player in the LCD display sector, which is slated to be the fastest growing sector of the digital television display market.
